LIVE & WORK SCHEME

Live. Work. Grow. is a collaborative project between Gloucestershire Nightstop, Cheltenham Housing Aid Centre, Cirencester Housing for Young People and Chispa CIC, working to develop a bespoke Live and Work model for Gloucestershire. The model aims to prevent youth homelessness by providing young adults at risk of homelessness with stable, affordable accommodation linked to employment, with a fair rent contribution to help keep homes affordable and sustainable, alongside accessible, light-touch support that enables them to build stability and progress towards long-term independence.

The partnership combines expertise in supported housing, advocacy and community connections, youth voice and co-production, and strategic coordination. Young people's lived experience is central to shaping the model, while the partnership works collectively to influence wider change across housing, employment and youth policy.

These are the core ideas we want people to understand about Live. Work. Grow.

Prevention and independence

Live. Work. Grow. is designed to help prevent youth homelessness by providing stable, affordable housing linked to employment, enabling young people to build stability and progress towards long-term independence.

Shaped with young people

Youth voice and lived experience are central to Live. Work. Grow. Young people should be active participants in shaping how the model develops, rather than passive recipients of a service.

Housing and work together

The Live and Work approach recognises the relationship between secure housing and sustainable employment. The model aims to provide affordable accommodation alongside employment, training or apprenticeship opportunities and accessible, light-touch support.

Where appropriate, communications should reinforce these messages rather than creating new or conflicting descriptions of the project.

To avoid ambiguity or misrepresentation, partners should be clear about the project's scope.
