The Guildhall Young Programmers pilot is now in the second year of development with the Guildhall. We have used participatory methods to develop the structure of the programme with our youth team. The programme integrates exposure to new and emerging forms, artists and companies; the development of ideas and concepts relating to what young people want and need in the city; planning and upskilling, giving the youth leaders the opportunity to develop skills and work alongside professionals in areas they want to develop; relationship building and partnership development. This programme not only enriches programming at the Guildhall by embedding youth perspectives and creativity, it also creates real opportunities for young people to lead projects and gain experience working in a prominent arts venue. It breaks down barriers to employment and equips young people with the tools and experience to be able to pursue careers in the creative industries
